The River Trip List for Spring 2012 is below.
The Paddlesurf commit have made available the 2012 Paddlesurf Poster which also contains a calendar of the paddlesurf events that are occurring throughout the year.
All clubs are encouraged to go along and beginners are very welcome.
The first event is on the 3rd and 4th of March 2012.
Over the weekend of Friday the 13th to Sunday 15th July, 17 brave souls made, what is now becoming a traditional summer trip to the Welsh White Water centre Canolfan Tryweryn. At least 10 runs of the river were completed over the weekend – culminating in a final ‘Blue Angel’ (hell for leather dash) by the club in a near perfect (thanks Keith 
) run of 4 minutes and 50 seconds.
There were a few swims, many rolls – but overall the trip was pretty much incident free and a great success. Thanks go out to the more experienced paddlers for keeping an eye out for the less experienced – but as they will admit themselves – Lir’s skill level this year was vastly imrpoved and they were able to relax and enjoy the river themselves.
Once again Lir showed their True colours when 15 hearty volunteers braved life and limb (well the possibility of a dunking into the liffey) to help out with rescue for the Junior Liffey Descent. Lir took ownership of Wrens and provided cover for Shackletons weirs. All passed off well and a big thank you to everyone and congrats to the ICU and their sponsors for another succesful race.
Congratulations to Morna and Seán on becoming Lir’s new ICU Level 2 instructors, adding to our expanding list of qualified instructors.

Please note – the Club Safety Day is on March the 25th. We will be combining this with the normal Sunday trip. All members are requested to attend.
Please bring all safety equipment with you and prepare to Swim!
